What is a Turkish silk kese — and why it beats every loofah

The hammam's quiet secret

For centuries, the Turkish hammam has ended with a deep, gentle exfoliation using a kese — a woven mitt that lifts away dull, dead skin in visible rolls. Genuine raw silk is gentler than viscose copies, yet more effective.

Raw silk vs. viscose

Most "silk" mitts are actually viscose. Real raw silk is rich in natural sericin, lasts for years, and is kind to sensitive skin.

How to use it

Soak in a warm bath 5–10 minutes, then sweep the glove over damp skin in long strokes. Rinse, pat dry and moisturise. Once or twice a week is plenty.
